Riding the waves of creativity by Paul Carter

A great morning surf with good friend the others day on my birthday.

Had some great waves of research and development on this hand shaped surfboard with many speed spots.

Growing up riding long and short boards and everything in between,  I have learned that each board has many speed spots.

In this photo is one of those speed spots with balance and gravity and martial arts.

This is another time capsule of the testing and training with surfing.

Dropping in behind the peak and trimming down into the Power pocket of the wave while on the nose is a unique experience of speed and energy
Surfing is limitless and shaping them is unlimited and only limited by ones perception.

Custom Surfboards By Paul Carter

The Surfboards below are 9ft on the left and 9’2 on the right.

The abstract board I rode for a couple months and it is an all around board for performance or cruising with some nice speed spots in the top half.   It has a nice curve in the tail for laying into tight turns when one is ready and willing.

My friend Rob is now the owner of that board which weighs in around 13.5 lbs.

The blue tint board on the right is a nice combination of classic surfing and cruising with a solid stable rocker for nose riding and nice smooth turns.  That board weighs in around 15.5-16lbs.

That board was custom and hand shaped for Carolyn daughter of Rob and also the WSA west coast longboard champion.

This board is an 8’8 custom made for Chris to ride in chest high to overhead surf.
This board has a few speed spots and fun options.   The standard 3.50 sides with a 7” center is a great all around fin set up.

This is a 7’6 round pin tail with the future fins and is great with medium to large fins even the T-1 twin fins with the small center fin is great for waist to head high.
This was made custom for Steve and the paddle and carving options.

San Clemente Surfboards & art by Paul Carter

The journey continues after one of the longest breaks from shaping surfboards since 1993.

It was a year break and a much needed one on a few levels to release and renew from the inside out.

The mind is so powerful and I am always learning daily.  The fire is stoked within me and I am exited mentally, spiritually and physically on new levels with a new perspective and positive perceptions.

When one does the work from the inside out to get real clear on the direction and why we do what we do?.  In my case shaping and painting becomes an exciting journey within the process of creating each artistic avenue.

The board you see below is one of kind starting with a custom Clark foam blank and within the waves  if you look closely there are curved redwood stringers.

This is a 9’5 a great glider and nose rider that turns like a Cadillac.

Painting surfboards & health tips by Paul Carter #038

Hello thank you for your time and checking out the latest surfboard and artworks with this spontaneous Live feed.

This is a time capsule of my story as a surfer/shaper/artist with some painting tips video and healthy tips that I have learned on this journey.

It is so important to stay focused on taking care of oneself daily, what I have learned that works for me is to feed the mind and body first thing in the morning with healthy positive foods for the mind and the body before I get into the my life and priorities

Some of what feeding the mind look like for me is reading the amazing stories in the bible and lately I have been listening to Bill Johnson and Kris Vallotton ministries on youtube and study along with the videos.
San Clemente Surfboards & Artwork by Paul Carter
The next thing I like to do is some strengthening and stretching which consists of some push ups, sit ups, and legs exercises each varying depending on the day.

My outdoor activities range from surfing, riding, jogging, hiking to name a few of the powerful grounding exercise to clear the mind and stay stoked and fit from the inside out.

The third important key is feeding the body with optimum micro and macro nutrition for maintaining a daily recovery and repair foundation to enjoy living a healthy quality lifestyle.

I know that I am responsible for my health, happiness and wealth by my daily choices and I have been on the dark side searching with drugs and alcohol and people, places and things that have led to truly trusting the one true source and creator of all things good which is GOD.

Now I know your conditioning is going to many places in your mind and I also know that for me to share this is a step of faith with positive intentions to inspire and help you not waste this valuable life and stop waiting for something to happen, all the while knowing now more than ever it is up to me to do the work and the activity to keep growing forward today and every day.

Hand painted surfboards by Paul Carter

A time capsule of a hand shaped and hand
Painted surfboard from my painting journey.
I started shaping surfboard in 1993 and shaped thousands of boards before I started painting them let alone painting period.
I was inspired in 2000-2001 to start painting little did I know when I started shaping I would be painting these boards for homes and business around the planet many years later.
Like in sports or any type of skill the only way one learns is by doing the work the activity consistently.
There hundreds and thousands of more talented artist out there but the difference is I'm
Doing the work and more importantly I'm stoked on the process and putting my art out there without worrying what people thinks, which is not easy in the beginning stages.

Learn How to painting abstract art surfboard 3/3 Paul Carter #004

Some HowTo tips on painting abstract art on your next board or canvas.  Abstract art painting is a great way to open the mind and simply get the inspired creativity flowing.

In this video I'm finishing up a recently handshaped board and going into the painting process as you will see.   Remember to practice on canvas or paper anything to get familure with the paint before starting on the surfboard and only use acrylic water base paints on the surfboards or experiment first.

San Clemente Surfboards Art Review by Paul Carter

This is a fun all around board for nose riding and carving or cruising through the sections.   This board is a 7'11 and works great from 7 to 8fit range.  I build custom hand shaped surfboards for your dreams.

I enjoy riding a 9 foot board but I wanted to change it up with a combination of a the best of a short and longboard something that I could still carve in the pocket and also hang five or 10 through the sections.

I use the 325 and 350 future side bites depending on the size of waves,  with a 8 to 8.50-DD center fin and all the way back in the box which is set at 6.5,  the side boxes on this board are set at 18 to give it the single fin feel with the carving option when you want it.

The wedge stringer was an inspiration from a Renny Yater Surfboard I saw in the early 90s.
I began incorporating the wedge stringer from 1995 to 2004 in many hand shaped surfboards.

So it came full circle this last year and I'm stoked to have the wedge stringer back again.  Join my instagram tribe from the link below.
