Surfboard drawings by Paul Carter

Dream it, design it, draw it and then create it in a full size custom handshaped surfboard.

When one lets go of living a life of validation from others life becomes a whole new adventure and journey from the inside out.

No longer living a life of comparing or thinking or worrying about what others may think is a freedom that is exciting and a peace that grows from learning by doing.

Having healthy activities and habits daily, will break through the old unhealthy perceptions of conditioning into healthy new ones.

It’s nit about being perfect it’s about being at peace in knowing thyself and embrace the inspired creativity and enjoy the process by being present 100%.

These are a couple of spontaneous sketches with positive reminders for the journey in and out of the water.

Handmade custom Surfboards & Art by Paul Carter

Two custom Hand Shaped Surfboards.

The board on the left is a custom blank made by Clark Foam in 2006.  It is designed with three redwood stringers.  The center stringer is 1/4 inch and the two sides are 1/8 thick for the curves of the waves

I am putting together a short YouTube video for my channel, link is below.  The video will show more of the details of the painted board with more close up shots of the stringers and the colors of the painted waves.

The painted board is just under 9’6 by one inch with a 18 inch nose and 22.50 center and a 14.50 tail.

I rode the board is the annual Sano Surf Club contest which was a great time and I managed to get some good waves and a first place wooden trophy.

At the time I wanted to create a clsssic performance style board and a one of kind painting for the art shows and of course surfing and to have fun cruising and nose riding.

The board on the right was a remake from a well used board in the early 2000.

In the early 1990s I saw a Rene Yater board with the same stringer set up and it made logical sense on a few levels.  It only took one board to realize the importants I’d having the stringers wide enough for the coenteenbox to fitnin cleanly.  I handshaped a few hundred of these double wedge stringer boards in all sizes.

It was time to let this board go to a stoked human and I am happy to say it did.

Painting a 1960s fin by Paul Carter

The painting of a 1960s fiberglassed fin called (24 hour dream)

I have painted some fins before but this was the first classic style fin from the 1960s

It had a small delamination of the fin that looked like a wave when I first saw the fin, so I went with the design you see in the first image.
This was designed with pencil then to archyval ink pen and then to paint
pens and final paint that I use on clothing.

Sunrise is Dana Point 1-19

I like to wake up early which is anywhere from 4 to 530 naturally, with no alarm clock.

Watching a sunrise is equivalent to watching a sunset with a variety of colors that inspire my brain and body to create new paintings and drawings.

The mornings are the times I like to get really focused on the future of the day that I want to create from each level from the inside out.  It takes practice consistently to learn how and it is so empowering to learn how to elevate the thoughts and energy I want to create for my future of the day.

The waves of change start in the present moment not the past.  The past memories and experience are the wisdom and the present thoughts and energy is my future in the present moment.  Over time the mind will become more focused on designing the future instead of the lies of conditioning we have all been programmed with.

Keep creating and always stay focused on the thoughts you do want to create in your mind and be aware of the thoughts you do not want to give anymore energy to.

Inspired art by Thomas Kinkade & Paul Carter

Acting on the inspiration when it happens fuels the fire to more and more learning by doing the work.

Here is one such spontaneous art Is inspired by the art of Thomas Kinkade.

I like the houses in the card and the bridges are awesome, so I put together my own perspective of a surf dream.

Next I will start with the first layers of paint and bring it life.

Keep creating and never compare yourself with anyone and always be aware of the thoughts and emotions you do and don’t want in your mind and body and life.

Learn from the past but don’t live in the past it will only keep you stuck in the past and not enjoying this awesome life now in the future.
