Epoxy Shortboards San Clemente Surfboards art

This is out of a us blanks in 2lb epoxy. Handshaping eps take a little slower pace especially with using the planer,the blank is beaded foam so it will tend to rip off the foam instead of skinning the blank. They are lighter and float a little higher out of the water so it's good to have a bit thinner center but more imoortantly the rails thinner. The idea was to give a bit more privacy in the sauna with a surfer dream and a grape vine. 

The house I grew up in had grape vines growing an always enjoyed eating them.

 I used sharpie and poska paint pens for this project and took my time and had fun.

New San Clemente Surfboards and Art

These are a coupe of the latest a 5'6 by 20 and 2.25 and a 5'9 by 20.75. These boards are excellent for reef breaks and point breaks and fun for the beach breaks. Also did a slash paint design for both boards. The 5'9 is a board I Will ride at trestles in chest to a couple of feet overhead. Been having a blast on a 5'8 by 21.25 so I wanted to bring the dimensions a bit for more performance in the pocket of the waves. Two paintings in progress one on a recently Handshaped 6'2. Laying out the design and painting on foam takes multiple steps as does hand shaping. The foam is like a sponge whichl soak up the paint if not prepared and painted correctly. See painting videos on web page for reference. This Is a 5'8 by 21.25 by 2.50 with 5 future fins set up for all occasions. Has two blue glue lines to give a little classic look on a modern handshaped surfboard. Has a nice rocker in the nose and tail for beach breaks as well as reefs and points with a nice concave bottom with a touch of vee around fins. All shapes and sizes available up to 7ft if needed. Hand Shaped Clark Foam blank from 1985

This was a flashback project from 1985, A Clark foam blank that was 80% shaped from the 80s era with a couple of deep channels which I shaped out using the electric planer and put in concave,As you can see from the outline I changed that up with a clean curve.

The board was pretty yellow from sitting in a garage for over 20 years,was stoked my friend Rob gave it to me after all these years.
